Success in IB exams rather than knowledge needs a correct understanding of the nature of exam papers, assessment criteria and IB rules. 

In Physics (both HL and SL) final exam paper marks are making up to 80% of your final grade; The last 20% is your score in IA. 

If you are an HL candidate, your exam paper 1B is the same as SL, but your paper 1A and paper 2 have different marking and timing compared to SL.
